Hoosier Homecoming

On Saturday, October 15, 2016, 5,000 Hoosiers gathered at the Indiana Statehouse campus for Hoosier Homecoming. Hoosier Homecoming was a free event for the whole family to celebrate Indiana’s 200th birthday! Guests celebrated from noon to 5 p.m. They enjoyed free entertainment from the Hunter Smith Band and others, food from more than 40 food trucks and artisans, and of course a front row seat to history as the Torch Relay finished and Bicentennial Plaza and the Statehouse Education Center were dedicated.

The October event commemorated the 1916 Cenentennial celebration held in October.

North Manchester Chamber of Commerce Bisontennial

The purpose of the Bisontennial project was to engage youth in North Manchester with the upcoming Bicentennial. Through resources at Manchester Community Schools and Manchester University, the organization accessed young artists to create one-of-a-kind bison masterpieces to coincide with themes both related to local history and to industry in the area. In October, IBC Executive Director visited North Manchester and visisted some of the Bisontennial bison.
