Our 200th birthday is a great opportunity to engage our youth and young adults to help showcase the best of Indiana today and to explore the potential that ignites our future.

Goals:

  • Enhance existing history curriculum.
  • Engage young adults in vital community projects.
  • Provide college internships to plan and implement the bicentennial.

The state has identified $20 million in state funding to support the Bicentennial Nature Trust and the Lilly Endowment contributed an additional $10 million grant.

Indiana’s 2016 Bicentennial celebration aims to honor our state’s 200 years of history, but do so in a modern way that engages all 6.5 million Hoosiers and leaves a lasting legacy for future generations.

As Indiana 2016 Bicentennial Commission leaders, we are privileged to play a role in a special time in our state’s history – our 200th birthday celebration. This statewide, grassroots bicentennial commemoration will strive to showcase the best of Indiana in 2016 and beyond.
