A memorial marker listing the achievements of Indy Car driver Pat O’Connor, native of North Vernon, Jennings County, and highlighting his racing career has been placed in the North Vernon City Park. This memorial exemplifies Indiana’s racing history as an international racing state. Three Indy racing greats have been laid to rest in Jennings County: Wilbur Shaw, Jim Hemmings, and Pat O’Connor.
