Amber Alert
Amber Alert - TEST

Legacy Projects > 50th Reunion of Pennington Descendants 50th Reunion of Pennington Descendants

On this, the 50th Family Reunion, we celebrate the Legacy of Dennis Pennington and his involvement in the creation of the State of Indiana.  The county Bicentennial Celebration committee has Commemorative Certificates that descendants of the 43 delegates can apply for. Pennington certificates will be given out on Friday evening.  Saturday begins with a family group photo at the Constitution Elm Tree, followed by a tour of the First State Capitol and the viewing of the original Indiana Constitution.  The group will move back to Pennington Chapel Church for lunch, followed by a tour of Pennington Chapel Cemetery (burial place of Dennis & Elizabeth) and participate in the community Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social.  Sunday will see the annual carry-in lunch followed by the meeting and program.  At various points of gathering, our guests will hear the story of Elizabeth English Pennington being captured as a youg child and raised by Indians and being rescued back by her family 10 years later.  We expect events will spur interest in tracing family history and get new people interested in genealogy.
