Legacy Projects > Bicentennial Strawberry Festival Bicentennial Strawberry Festival

At the 2016 Strawberry Festival on the Lane Place Grounds, the Bicentennial will be celebrated with important information reported during each activity of entertainment. There are more than 100 vendors with arts, crafts and food booths. Entertainment is continuous throughout the three-day festival, starting at 10 a.m. each day and ending at 10 p.m. Admission is free.

The first Strawberry Festival was held in 1878 on Lane Place grounds. The event was sponsored by the ladies of the Methodist Church. Joanna Lane was a member of the Ladies Group and was pleased to sponsor the Strawberry Festival in her home. The tradition has grown from that early, quiet day and now sees around 15,000 people from all over the country.
