Legacy Projects > Indiana’s Bicentennial Shingle (A Silhouette of the State, Celebrating its 200th Anniversary) Indiana’s Bicentennial Shingle (A Silhouette of the State, Celebrating its 200th Anniversary)

The Cedar Lake Chamber of Commerce hopes to decorate the community with Indiana Bicentennial shingles to mark the 200th anniversary of the Hoosier State. These shingles will be made by local craftsman out of recycled wooden pallets or other construction materials creating a community art project. The project will give local artists, youngsters and adults a chance to create a lasting piece of art to memorialize the state’s anniversary. Individual businesses and homeowners can hang their decorated shingles as they celebrate the bicentennial. Because the shingle is a silhouette of the state, it can be shared for years to come. These shingles will be available by contacting the Cedar Lake Chamber of Commerce at 219.374.6157.
