Legacy Projects > Lorrie E. Kovitz ADA Canoe and Kayak Launch – Michigan City Lorrie E. Kovitz ADA Canoe and Kayak Launch – Michigan City

The Lorrie E. Kovitz ADA Canoe and Kayak Launch was inspired by Lorrie E. Kovitz, a disabled kayaker from northwest Indiana. In partnership with Michigan City Parks and the NW Indiana Paddling Association, the building of Indiana’s first fully ADA compliant canoe and kayak launch was completed on Trail Creek which connects to Lake Michigan. This launch helps disabled and physically limited paddlers have the opportunity to participate in canoeing and kayaking.
