Legacy Projects > County Courthouse Bicentennial Flag Project & Third Grade Essay Contest County Courthouse Bicentennial Flag Project & Third Grade Essay Contest

The Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) will purchase Bicentennial Flags for all 92 counties and ensure they are delivered prior to December 1, 2015. The AIC will deliver the flags in person, by mail or to the auditors at the auditors fall conference in October in Columbus, IN. If the flags are available before October 21, the AIC will distribute them to the county auditors and make sure they are presented to the county commissioners at a commissioners’ public meeting. The AIC will also deliver a sample proclamation so counties can consider adopting the proclamation recognizing, statehood and celebrating the Bicentennial.

In a related project, the AIC will conduct an essay contest for third grade students in each of our six districts. The theme of the essay will be the Bicentennial and each district winner will receive a $100 check. The AIC will promote the essay contest with all public and private schools for which we have email addresses.
