Legacy Projects > Giant Tippecanoe County Map & Timeline Giant Tippecanoe County Map & Timeline

An interactive giant county map and timeline of county history will be created. The map and timeline will be used by schools, classrooms and organizations during the 2016 bicentennial celebration and beyond. The giant map and timeline will serve as an educational tool for people of all ages to learn about our states founding people and places.

Q&A with Legacy Project Coordinator Lou Camilotto

What do you consider the key accomplishment of your Legacy Project?

  • Celebrating our 200th year as a State. Giving the citizens of Tippecanoe County a document of what we are in our county based on a map.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your Legacy Project.

  • The map has been shown to many groups of people in Tippecanoe County, but the first time I displayed the map, children, adolescents, a adults oohed and aahed about what they saw on the map. They looked for their home, school, hospital, where they worked, etc. Our legacy project worked!!

How/where are you preserving information and artifacts related to your Legacy Project?

  • I have donated the map and its box to the Tippecanoe County Historical Association. They will store it there for anyone who wishes to use the map in their business, school, organization. It is free for anyone to use. Our legacy to the people of Tippecanoe County is working!!
