Legacy Projects > 19 Stars of Indiana Art: A Bicentennial Celebration 19 Stars of Indiana Art: A Bicentennial Celebration

Drawn from the IMA’s rich collection, this exhibition of approximately 70-75 works of art will celebrate the artistic achievements of 19 men and women who were born, raised or worked in Indiana, linking the number of artists selected to Indiana’s status as the 19th State. Over the course of the state’s 200 year history, painters, sculptors, printmakers, designers, fashion designers, metal smiths, potters and photographers have had an impact on the regional, national and international art scene. In addition, during the bicentennial year other art works created by Indiana artists, but not included in this selective exhibition, will be flagged throughout the Museum in order to draw attention to Indiana’s creative spirit.
