The 4th annual Cruise to the Monument showcases hundreds of cars owned by auto enthusiasts from across the tri-state area. The event takes place in the midst of the commercial historic district of downtown Angola beneath the gaze of Lady Columbia perched upon Steuben County’s Soldiers’ Monument; a testament of Steuben County’s contribution to the Civil War.

Cruise to the Monument invites auto enthusiasts and visitors to experience vehicles from decades of automobile innovation while enjoying downtown Angola’s distinctive historic atmosphere. This event is a showcase for not only America’s automobile industry, but the great state of Indiana’s place in it, and the contributions of the citizens of Steuben County and the city of Angola to both.

What do you consider the key accomplishment of your Legacy Project?

  • Bringing the community together to celebrate our historic downtown and the history of American cars during Angola's 150th year of incorporation and Indiana's 200th year.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your Legacy Project.

  • We had "flip your seat" auction to raise money for downtown holiday lights during the event and raised over $4,000.

How/where are you preserving information and artifacts related to your Legacy Project?

  • We have aerial video, lakes101.org and the City of Angola servers store information relevant to this event.

  • 76.

  • 1,200 visitors and 264 registered vehicles.
