Image 1

This multi-faceted display illustrates the history, people and places that make Crown Point a fascinating city. Visit the Crown Point Community Library lobby area to view an exhibit featuring photographs and other artifacts about the Hub City. Learn more about Crown Point, Lake County, and Indiana by visiting the Indiana Room on the second floor, which houses the historical collection of the library. The exhibit will be on display November 2016 – January 2017.

Q&A with Legacy Project Coordinator Jeanene Letcher

What do you consider the key accomplishment of your Legacy Project?

  • Crown Point is a city with a lot of history that no one seems to know about other than a few "big" facts. I think we expanded the knowledge of Crown Point history by introducing other facts and got people learning more about this city.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your Legacy Project.

  • One woman came to our history room to learn more about one of the tidbits. It's something that we have little information on but what we have is fun to learn. She started with her first piece and then went on to discover about a few more things while in the history room.

How/where are you preserving information and artifacts related to your Legacy Project?

  • Most items were from our collection and will return to the collection when the exhibit is dismantled. We are maintaining the research files for the exhibit. We plan to continue to provide the booklet produced for the exhibit with the list of facts when the project is finished.
