Indiana Bicentennial Celebration 2016

Legacy Projects > Ice Pie Spirals Ice Pie Spirals

“Ice Pie Spirals” is a 7.5’ x 12’ public art mosaic inside West Lafayette’s Klondike Elementary School. It was created by artist-in-residence Linda Vanderkolk with the engagement of the entire school community—teachers, students, and staff—to celebrate our natural world and inspire environmental awareness to slow global warming. The work incorporates thousands of nature words and images under small glass disks, including over 200 flora and fauna native to Indiana: mammals, trees, plants, reptiles, fish, birds, places, etc. An open house in fall 2016 will be scheduled.
