Legacy Projects > Noblitt Falls Lagoons Neighborhood-History of a Mid-Century Modern Treasure in Columbus, IN Noblitt Falls Lagoons Neighborhood-History of a Mid-Century Modern Treasure in Columbus, IN

Our project is preserving the heritage of the neighborhood in print, digital and social media. Planning includes a reunion for past residents and an event to view the Torch Relay as it passes the homes on Washington Street. Developed by Quintin G. Noblitt in the early 1950s, the first home was built in 1953. The Columbus businessman, who died in 1954, was a pioneer in the development of manmade lakes, with a passion for soil and water conservation. The Noblitt Falls addition was developed on land adjacent to the Noblitt home on Washington Street. This unique neighborhood in the downtown area of Columbus contains 55 homes, as well as two lakes connected by a canal and bordered by the Flat Rock River.
