Legacy Projects > Honoring the Fallen of the Civil War Honoring the Fallen of the Civil War

Honoring the Fallen of the Civil War, is a program that encompasses getting Flags and Flag Markers for each and every Civil War vet that is buried in Porter County. The David D. Porter Camp 116 of The Sons of the Union Veterans will also be replacing numerous headstones of those fallen veterans who do not have a stone or the stone is no longer readable. Finally, our Camp will be co-hosting with the Porter County Museum, for the second year, to hold numerous free cemetery tours of which we will be discussing the Soldier’s and their families impact upon the community, the impact that the War had upon the community, and how many of the men and women helped to shape Porter County’s successes.
