Paying Your Utility Bill
Yorktown’s Utility Billing Office manages billing for water, sewer and trash services. Residents have multiple ways to pay:
- In‑Person or Mail – Payments may be made at the Utility Billing Office inside Yorktown Town Hall at 9312 W Smith St. Mailed payments should be sent to PO Box 518, Yorktown, IN 47396. A drop box at the same location accepts after‑hours payments.
- Online – Click Here to Pay Online. Register with your customer number and last name. You can view invoices, choose email billing and add invoices to your cart for payment. Note that partial payments aren’t allowed; credit/debit card payments are capped at $200 per transaction and carry a $3.45 fee. Paying from a checking account costs $0.95.
- Automatic Bank Draft (ACH) – To set up automatic withdrawal from your checking account, complete the Town’s ACH Authorization Form and bring it, along with a voided check, to the Utility Office. Bills paid via ACH still arrive by mail; they display “Automatic payment, do not pay” and the funds are withdrawn roughly two business days before the due date.

Understanding Your Utility Bill
Yorktown bills may differ depending on service area. Some residents get water from the Town of Yorktown, others from Indiana American Water, and others use private wells. Sewer charges might come from Yorktown or from Delaware County Regional Wastewater, while trash service is standard only within urban areas. Bills have up to three line items: Water, Wastewater (sewer) and Sanitation (trash). Only the services you utilize will appear on your bill.
Setting Up or Changing Service
To start or stop water, sewer or trash service, contact the Utility Billing Office. New service often requires your service address and a valid ID, and staff can let you know if a deposit is required. Specific departments can assist with operational questions:
- Water Department – Provides clean, safe drinking water to roughly 5,000 customers, operating four wells, three elevated storage towers and more than eighteen miles of water mains.
- Sewer Department – The Field Operations Department maintains the sanitary and storm sewer collection systems.
