NIRPC’s Transportation Improvement Program is a four-year program of multi-modal transportation investments proposed by local, regional and state partners in our region. Funding for the investments programmed is a mix of Federal Highway Administration, Federal Transit Administration, Indiana Department of Transportation, and local matching funds. The programmed investments assist local and regional partners in providing a multi-modal transportation system for the people of Northwestern Indiana. Investments are evaluated to help prioritize limited federal funds available to the area and are intended to yield the maximum benefit while also remaining consistent with the goals of the Long-Range Transportation Plan.

The 2024-2028 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) was available for public comment from March 6, 2023 through April 7, 2023. NIRPC’s Executive Board adopted the TIP at the July 20, 2023 meeting. (subject to final air quality conformity determination)

Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP)

NIRPC’s Regional Transportation Improvement Program (RTIP) is a web-based platform that contains the Transportation Improvement Program in electronic format.

The RTIP may be amended up to four times per year to best reflect project schedules, cost estimates, and other necessary information and represents the most up to date information, as posted by the project sponsor or NIRPC. RTIP provides project-specific searching and mapping capabilities and can be accessed by using the following link: https://rtip.nirpc.org
