Give Green the Brake
The Indiana Department of Transportation’s Give Green the Brake program supports the implementation of the Guardian Angel. The Guardian Angel is a rechargeable, wearable LED safety light that provides 360-degree visibility from miles away, making it easier for individuals to be seen and stay safe. It is designed for professionals like first responders and construction workers.
- How do I use the Guardian Angel lights?
Press the GA button once to activate the flashing green light. They can attach to a jaw clip for hardhat or vest, adhesive magnet, lanyard accessories.
- When are the Guardian Angel lights used?
The Guardian Angel lights are used for night-time focus, low light emergency activities, fog, and/or shade.
- When did INDOT adopt the Give Green the Brake program?
INDOT began piloting in fall 2025.
- Why are the green lights flashing?
Green flashing llights will signal humans are present in an active construction zone and are easily distinguishable from standard construction zone lighting.
