Give Green the Brake

The Indiana Department of Transportation’s Give Green the Brake program supports the implementation of the Guardian Angel. The Guardian Angel is a rechargeable, wearable LED safety light that provides 360-degree visibility from miles away, making it easier for individuals to be seen and stay safe. It is designed for professionals like first responders and construction workers.

Why Green?

Your eyes see green at 300% more - the human eye is most sensitive to green light.

Light can be seen up to 5 miles away and continually flashes green.

Green guardian lights differentiate between a construction zone and an active zone with humans working in the zone.

You’re 85% more visible when wearing a vest with a guardian angel.

Frequently Asked Questions

Press the GA button once to activate the flashing green light. They can attach to a jaw clip for hardhat or vest, adhesive magnet, lanyard accessories.

The Guardian Angel lights are used for night-time focus, low light emergency activities, fog, and/or shade.

INDOT began piloting in fall 2025.
