Tailgate Prop

This INDOT innovation improves safety for crews working out of standard truck beds. The tailgate prop is a simple device designed to keep a truck’s tailgate securely open while employees access tools and materials. It slides over the tailgate pin, and a square‑tubing latch locks into the truck’s factory tailgate latch, ensuring that the tailgate cannot move or fall unexpectedly.
By holding the tailgate firmly in place, this tool allows staff to walk and work underneath it without risk of injury. The tailgate prop offers a reliable, easy‑to‑use solution that enhances safety during daily maintenance operations.
