Thermal Integrity Profile Test

This INDOT innovation improves the way drilled shafts are evaluated by using the Thermal Integrity Profile (TIP) Test. Instead of relying on multiple tools and less efficient methods, the TIP Test measures the entire concrete shaft to assess volume, cage alignment, shaft shape, concrete cover, and overall concrete quality.
The test helps identify issues such as necks, bulges, or inclusions and delivers more accurate information about shaft durability, serviceability, and long‑term strength. By providing higher‑quality data at a lower overall cost, the TIP Test supports stronger and longer‑lasting bridge foundations.
