This INDOT innovation creates a uniform, up‑to‑date Snow and Ice training program for winter operations. Training approaches currently vary across the state, which can lead to gaps in consistency and preparedness. The new standardized curriculum delivers all essential information in an engaging format while still allowing districts to include material specific to their needs.

The program features hands‑on learning such as truck inspections, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting tips. Snowplow simulators give drivers realistic practice, and tenured employees will help mentor new team members during their first winter season. This improved training supports safer, more confident, and more effective snow and ice operations statewide.
