Patch Cart Safety Light

This INDOT innovation improves work zone visibility and enhances safety for both crews and motorists. A yellow and white strobing light is added to asphalt patch carts to increase rear visibility, especially when crews are performing roadway repairs.
The safety light is a low‑cost improvement and can be fabricated in INDOT district or unit shops. By making patch carts more visible on the road, this simple addition helps reduce the risk of collisions and protects crews while they work.
