Cable Barrier Winch

This INDOT innovation provides a safer and more efficient way to tension cable barrier systems during maintenance. The cable barrier winch attaches directly to the snowplow hitch on Freightliner dump trucks equipped with round‑pin style plow hitches.
The tool uses the truck’s snowplow hydraulics for power and is operated through the standard plow left and plow right joystick. It is compatible with all brands of cable rail, giving crews a versatile, dependable method for tightening cables quickly and safely. This innovation reduces manual effort, speeds up repairs, and helps ensure barrier systems remain effective for roadway safety.
