Alternative Blast Cleaner
Submitted by: Patrick Craig (Vincennes District)
This INDOT innovation introduces safer and more environmentally friendly options for surface cleaning and preparation. Alternative blast cleaning equipment can include dustless blasting, dry ice blasting, or other modern techniques that replace traditional sandblasting.
These methods produce less dust, reduce environmental impact, and improve safety for workers by minimizing airborne particles. Alternative blasting can be used for all tasks typically handled by sandblasting, and in many cases offers even greater versatility. This innovation helps INDOT crews complete cleaning and restoration work more cleanly, safely, and efficiently.
