The following information is to assist you with questions you may have while planning and or attending training at the Correctional Training Institute.
Registration & Cancellation
All staff planning to lodge at CTI should complete a Lodging Request.
Register for classes by contacting your Facility Training Department, Regional Training Manager, Regional Training Specialist, or through established methods at your Facility/District.
If you are registered for a program, you are expected to attend. Your facility training department should be notified as soon as possible of any cancellations so that others can have the opportunity to attend.
Lodging Information
Workforce Engagement will make every attempt to provide lodging for all training participants, when appropriate. If there is lodging available, you will not be reimbursed for out-of-pocket lodging rooms are assigned in the order they are received. Preference requests will be considered but are not guaranteed.
Check in
- If pre-approved to arrive on Sunday, please ensure your staff arrive at 6PM EST. This will be the approved check-in time for all Sunday arrivals.
- The Duty Officer will require each person to show their ID before being buzzed in.
- Please text the Duty Officer your name. The Duty Officer will then reply with your assigned lodging room ID and PIN for the Morse Watchman System.
- The welcome message demonstrates the steps needed to remove your keys.
- You must follow the Department’s Key Control Policy and keep your DWE Facility Keys on you at all times.
- Anytime you leave your room take your keys with you. The door will lock behind you.
- If you do get locked out of your room call the Duty Officer. Please note that DWE staff are not on grounds after hours.
- If a key is lost or damaged, you must report it immediately to the Duty Officer.
Reminder
- Participants are responsible for keeping their room always locked and personal items always secured.
- On the last day of your stay, your personal items must be removed from your room and your key turned in prior to the start of your program.
Items to bring while lodging at CTI
- Towels/Washcloths
- Facility ID Cards
- Non-Electric Alarm Clock
- Personal Hygiene Items (soap, toothpaste/toothbrush, deodorant, etc.)
Training Class Guidelines
Dress Code
Participants and visitors are expected to follow IDOC Grooming and Dress Policy/Procedure guidelines when attending training programs, Due to the nature of certain programs, there will be exceptions. When a program deviates from the Dress Policy participants will be notified in advance by the Program Dean.
What to Bring
The following is a list of items you will need to bring while attending classes. You will be notified in advance of any specific program requirements.
- Pen
- Pencil
- Pad of Paper
- Highlighter
- Any materials that may have been provide to you in advance of the program (e.g., Lesson Plans, Study Manuals, Participant Manuals, etc.).
Emergency Plan
The Division of Workforce Engagement takes all our guests' safety and wellbeing seriously. Our staff are trained and prepared to respond to any situation that may arise during your time with us. In the event of an emergency please notify any DWE employee and follow all instructions provided by our staff.
