Peer Leadership

Peer Leadership Program Overview

The program’s development began in 2018 as a result of the identified need for a course to support the growth of front-line leaders within the Indiana Department of Correction. Recognizing that peer leadership is a critical element of the workplace, the program was created to provide training and support to high-potential staff who are not yet in supervisory positions, allowing them to better function as peer leaders in their current roles in addition to providing a tool for succession planning

ENDORSEMENT PROCESS

After the application deadline, an email will be sent to the Facility Warden/Division Director that lists all individuals and their responses to the questions on the application. The following questions will be asked for each individual that applied:

  1. Which of these individuals do you support attending the Peer Leadership?
  2. Of those that you support attending the Peer Leadership, please rank them in order of preference and provide explanation of ranking.

SELECTION BOARD

The Selection Board will take place on Feb. 16, 2026. Following the Selection Board, we will provide the Commissioner with the list of selected individuals for review. After receiving approval, we will notify all those who applied of the results. We anticipate this notification being sent no later than Feb. 20, 2026.
