Redkey Volunteer Fire Department
Serving with Pride, Protecting with Heart
The Redkey Volunteer Fire Department is made up of a dedicated team of 23 active members, representing a remarkable 556 combined years of experience, who provide 24-hour fire, rescue, and medical services to the Town of Redkey and its surrounding areas. These volunteers are committed to safeguarding lives and property while actively engaging in the life of the community.
In addition to emergency services, the department is proud to host and participate in various community-focused events throughout the year. These include two annual Pancake Breakfasts — one to raise funds for essential fire department equipment and another to support the town’s Fourth of July Fireworks Show, which the department organizes each year.
Every Friday after Thanksgiving, the Fire Department brings the magic of the season to life by escorting Santa Claus into town, kicking off the holiday festivities for local families. On Halloween, they host a fun and festive Costume Contest that draws residents of all ages.
The department also works closely with Redkey Elementary School, providing Fire Prevention Education, setting up Waterball games for Field Day, and grilling hamburgers for the end-of-year picnic, building strong relationships with the next generation of Redkey residents.
During Gas Boom Days, you’ll find the department adding energy to the festival with activities like Kiddie Waterball and an impressive Extrication Demonstration, showcasing their life-saving equipment and techniques. They also support Secret Families Christmas, assisting in delivering Christmas trees to bring cheer to families in need.
This depth of knowledge and dedication ensures that Redkey continues to receive top-tier emergency services from people who truly care about their community.
Each event and initiative is made possible by the tireless efforts of volunteers who go above and beyond to keep Redkey safe, informed, and united. The department’s deep roots in the community and unwavering commitment to service make it a cornerstone of what makes Redkey such a special place to call home.
