Redkey Parks Department

The Redkey Park has been a treasured part of our community since the early 1940s, when the Carr Canning Company generously donated the original park grounds to the Town of Redkey. Since then, the park has continued to grow and thrive thanks to the combined efforts of local organizations, including the Town Council, Lions Club, Park Board, and the Redkey Junior League.

In 1987, Morgan Packing Company further expanded our recreational space by donating approximately five acres of land, now home to our ball diamonds. This area was dedicated as the Jack Morgan Memorial Park, honoring Mr. Morgan’s contribution to the community. Plans are underway to construct a new brick entrance to the park in his memory.

Today, the Redkey Parks continue to serve as a hub for community activities. Each summer, around 200 local boys and girls participate in baseball and softball leagues, filling the park with energy and excitement. Every Fourth of July, Redkey comes together to celebrate with a fireworks display, creating cherished memories for generations of families.

Our parks are more than just green spaces, they are where the heart of Redkey beats strongest, connecting our residents through recreation, celebration, and community pride.

Park Play GroundFuture of Morgan Park: Our Vision for an All-Inclusive Playground

We are excited to share our vision for the future of our community park. A space that will be welcoming, accessible, and fun for everyone.

Leading this initiative is Town Board Member Jennifer Staver, who oversees the Parks Department. Jennifer is passionate about creating a park that meets the needs of all children and families. She is currently in the beginning stages of planning a major revamp of Redkey’s park and playground facilities.

Our goal is to completely transform the existing playground and create an All-Inclusive Park that is fully handicapped accessible and sensory-friendly. This new space will not only serve the children of Redkey but will also provide a warm, inviting destination for visitors from across Jay County and beyond.

Plans include removing the outdated playground equipment and replacing it with new, inclusive features designed for children of all abilities. In addition, we are exploring the possibility of replacing the old concession stand with a brand-new splash pad, offering a refreshing and exciting new amenity for families to enjoy.

We are still in the early stages of planning and development, and we look forward to keeping the community informed every step of the way. Fundraising activities will be announced soon, and we invite everyone to get involved!

Your feedback, ideas, and questions are always welcome. Together, we can build a park that truly reflects the heart of Redkey.
