National Guard Supplemental Grant (NGSG)

The National Guard Supplemental Grant (NGSG) covers up to 100 percent of state tuition assistance costs for eligible members of the Indiana Air and Army National Guard. As of July 2023, NGSG also provides an annual award of up to $5,000 toward tuition and regularly assessed fees at an Indiana private, non-profit college or university.   • Students can attend either full-time or part-time
  • Open to all INNG soldiers and airmen wishing to further their education
  • Covers tuition and regularly assessed fees and textbooks
  • For soldiers who are recipients of the 21st Century Scholarship, NGSG can be applied for room and board
  • Applicable only for distance learning, online, correspondence and classroom courses
  • Can be used only during fall and spring semesters
  • Is subject to the availability of funds
  • Grant amounts are based on credit hours per semester up to 15 credit hours
  • Must have an ArmyIgnited account and have applied for funding for the semester.
  • Must have a ScholarTrack account.
  • Must have a FAFSA (current term) with school of enrollment listed, submitted, and on file with the state eligible school of choice.
  • Must be enrolled in state eligible school of choice.
  • Air Guard students must have completed steps 2 through 4.

Note: ArmyIgnitED supports Tuition Assistance (TA) for Soldiers. Users must log in with their Common Access Card (CAC) to register for the new system.

  • Must have completed the basic requirement for all degree levels.
  • NGSG awards will be based upon undergraduate-level funding caps, FAFSA reported expected family contribution (EFC), enrollment status (full/part-time student) and the availability of funds.
  • Students whose NGSG application has been approved but do not see an award offer, go to the previous academic year on their dashboard in ScholarTrack or call 1-888-528-4719 to create a Help Desk Ticket.

Eligibility

  • Be enrolled in college part-time (3-11 semester hours) or full-time (12-15 semester hours).
  • Have filed the free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  File here: Federal Student Aid application (FAFSA).
  • Be a high school graduate (including home-schooling) or have earned a GED.
  • Must be an Indiana Guardsman before applying for NGSG.

Restrictions

  • Available only for fall and spring semesters
  • Applicable only to a student’s first degree of that level up to a master's degree
  • Does not cover room and board
  • Does cover textbooks

Apply

NGSG is a once a year application that resets every June. Applications must be submitted no later than 8 days before the beginning of classes. Late applications are considered on a case-by-case basis and on the availability of funds.
