Message to the Force

From the desks of Indiana’s Adjutant General and State Command Sergeant Major:
Dear Soldiers and Airmen of the Indiana National Guard,
This summer has proven to be both exciting and productive, and your remarkable dedication and teamwork as a united Joint Force is truly commendable. We take immense pride in the accomplishments we've achieved together, and it's time to build on that momentum.
As we move forward, our mission is unequivocal: we must reignite the warrior ethos and fortify our military. This summer, we are directing our leaders to concentrate on four critical lines of effort that will drive us into the future. These initiatives are a testament to our resolve to adapt and capitalize on the opportunities ahead.
LOE One: Our Main Line of Effort is Warfighting Readiness and is our priority, and there are no others. Leaders down to the platoon/section leader level are responsible for training and ensuring your formations are experts at the basics and upholding our professional standards. You must ruthlessly protect training time and remove distractions. We will achieve success at the battalion and squadron level. We must be able to fight and win, and we will only do that by being experts at the basics.
LOE Two: Supporting Line of Effort Force Structure and Organizational Optimization. As we look ahead, we remain committed to aligning our force structure and optimizing to meet the demands of the future fight. This means deliberately shaping our force structure to balance readiness and sustainability better, and posture for transformation – ensuring that every formation contributes directly to restoring the warrior ethos, rebuilding our military strength, and reestablishing deterrence on the global stage.
LOE Three: Supporting Line of Effort Facilities Modernization. The way we train and execute our missions has evolved, and we must continue to adapt to these changes. Our team has been working on the facility modernization plan and both Army and Air National Guard leaders have strategic projects that will support this effort. Modernization is vital to supporting training and is a responsible way to provide cost savings to our state and federal facilities that require maintenance on old and outdated buildings and equipment.
LOE Four: Supporting Line of Effort Strategic Communication. We must tell our story and connect with our community. We will deliver timely updates to our key stakeholders. We will be deliberate in telling our story and ensuring that Hoosiers across the state understand the dynamic and engaged nature of the Indiana National Guard on a global scale. We will build stakeholder confidence and enhance both our public messaging and internal communication.
Not only do we stand ready as lethal warfighters to the nation, but we also remain postured to respond swiftly here at home when our neighbors need it most. This unique balance is what continues to make the National Guard indispensable. We are proud to lead this organization, and we look forward to updating you as we implement these efforts across our force.
As soldiers and airmen who make up our force, It is imperative for you to remain engaged and informed about our strategies to reinforce deterrence in an ever-changing landscape.
Take pride in knowing that you are part of the greatest military in the world, and you are building a legacy that is transforming the force and an integral part of our nation's defense. Thank you for your continued support and for being a valued part of the Guard family.
Sincerely,
JOSHUA A. BROWN
