Col. Bradley M. Compton

Colonel Bradley M. Compton of Frankton, Indiana earned his commission as a second lieutenant in the Infantry from Indiana University ROTC in Aug.1997. In his first assignment, he served nine years in Company A, 1st Battalion 152nd Infantry, including five years as commander, at armories in Linton and Vincennes. During his command time, he deployed with his command to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 and saw service in Kuwait, Iraq and Jordan.
From 2006-2008, he served on staff with 1st Battalion 152nd Infantry. In 2008, Lt. Col. Compton deployed as battalion plans officer with the newly re-designated 1st Battalion 151st Infantry to Tikrit, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Following this deployment, in Dec. 2008, Compton was assigned as the Assistant S3 and Training Officer, 219th Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, and subsequently served as the Brigade Rear Detachment Commander.
In Jan. 2012, Compton was assigned as Executive Officer, 2nd Squadron 152nd Cavalry (R&S). During this time, he completed the one-year Resident Command and General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. From Dec. 2014 through Dec. 2016, Compton was assigned first as Commander, 2nd Squadron 152nd Cavalry Regiment (with mounted cavalry troops, long-range surveillance company and rigger detachment) until Oct. 2015, when the unit converted to 2nd Battalion 152nd Infantry Regiment, one of three infantry battalions of the 76th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. This coincided with FTUS assignment as State Training Officer.
In 2017, Compton served as the International Programs Director for SPP partners Slovakia and Niger.
Col. Compton served as the G3 of 38th Infantry Division, headquartered in Indianapolis from Jan. 2018 through Sept. 2021, and Chief of Staff of 38th Infantry Division from Sept. 2021 to Nov. 2022. In this position he participated in four Warfighter exercises and multiple other exercises and missions. He deployed to Operation Spartan Shield in 2019-2020, serving as Division G3 for the 10,000 Soldiers as part of Task Force Spartan. Compton served as Director of Resource Management (J8), Indiana National Guard from Dec. 2022 through Sept. 2025 and concurrently served as 38th Infantry Division Rear Detachment Commander from Sept. 2024 through Sept. 2025. Since Oct. 1, 2025, Col. Compton has served as Chief of Staff, Indiana Army National Guard.
Col. Compton holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business from Indiana University, a Master of Arts in International Relations from Webster University, and a Master of Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. From 1997-2004, Compton worked in the private sector automotive industry. Compton has been full-time with Indiana National Guard since Sept. 2004, first as a dual-status technician and subsequently in the Active Guard Reserve (AGR) program since Dec. 2008.
