Holistic Health and Fitness - H2F

Indiana H2F

Indiana Holistic Health and Fitness (INH2F) works to improve organizational readiness. Our performance centers adhere to evidence-based programs and leverage the latest in physiological assessment technologies to produce personalized health and wellness plans for Guardsmen. These plans are designed by our health educator staff to assist clients in achieving specific long-term lifestyle goals.

The program uses body composition analysis, resting metabolic rate testing, V02 and strength measurements, coherence measurement of stress, individual coaching, wellness classes and general wellness education to assist clients in reaching their goals. Whether you’re struggling to achieve your wellness goals or are already a fitness expert, we’ve got something for you.

Services

  • Biofeedback

The emWave Stress Relief System helps people learn how to transform stress and stress-related emotions into free energy for personal and professional effectiveness while improving health and well-being. Emwave is a type of self-regulation that provides real-time visual monitoring. The goal of the program is to utilize positive thoughts and emotions to obtain optimal heart rate variability, or coherence.

  • Body Composition

If the changes you are making in your physical activity to lose weight are not producing changes on the scale, you may be losing fat but gaining muscle. We take your height, weight and blood pressure, then use the BODPOD, ultrasound or bioelectrical impedance to test your body fat percentage, or body mass index (BMI) to provide you with an accurate assessment. BODPOD uses air displacement to determine how much of the body is made up of fat, and is second to water displacement as the most accurate measure of body fat percentage. Ultrasound uses sound waves to determine body composition. Regardless of which method of testing BMI is chosen, the process takes only about 10 minutes.

  • Resting Metabolic Rate

Resting Metabolic Rate is an assessment used to measure the number of calories your body needs to maintain its current weight over a 24-hour period of rest. We collect data for 15 minutes and extrapolate that data to estimate your calorie needs over 24 hours. The test requires you to lie down on a table and wear a mask throughout the test to measure your oxygen and carbon dioxide levels. These levels can tell us how much oxygen is consumed by the body during rest, which, in turn, is used to estimate your caloric needs. This test can help you make dietary changes to reduce or add calories to your diet.

  • Fitness Assessment

We can determine your cardiorespiratory fitness levels and appropriate training zones for your fitness regimen by measuring your heart rate. We use V02 submaximal testing, where you will walk or run on a treadmill until you reach 85 percent of your estimated maximum heart rate. We ensure you receive the utmost care by adhering to strict safety protocols, including having you fill out a pre-screening health and consent form prior to your assessment. We may also require a release from your primary care physician if for any reason you fail the pre-screening questionnaire.

  • Strength and Flexibility

We test and monitor your strength and flexibility to help you track your progress. General strength in the back and forearms helps determine functional ability and distribution of strength. Hamstring and low back flexibility are important for general health and training purposes. Lack of strength and flexibility can lead to injury and predispose you for future injuries. Also there is a good correlation between grip strength and overall muscle health.

  • Individual Counseling and General Wellness Education

Our health educators work with you one-on-one to discuss the results of your assessments and to set your goals. All of your encounters at our performance centers are documented and securely stored locally in your client folder, which we provide for your use to work toward improving your wellness. At your request, we’ll provide your assessment results and your fitness plan to your physician.

  • Wellness Classes

We offer group educational classes on topics including tobacco cessation, basic ways to raise your metabolism, stress education, sleep improvement and Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) essentials. Video teleconferencing (VTC) classes are available for groups at National Guard facilities with video conferencing capabilities.
