Event Summary
A derecho on June 10th followed by more severe storms and three confirmed tornadoes on June 11th caused widespread damage across Marshall County. Several homes and businesses suffered damage, and much of the county was without electricity at times.
On June 10th, EMA deployed cots and bedding for a shelter in Bourbon due to a town-wide power outage. EMA also conducted damage assessments on the 11th before another round of storms passed through.
On June 12th, EMA conducted more damage assessments and worked with the National Weather Service to survey and confirm three weak tornadoes from the county. The National Weather Service's event summary page can be found HERE and contains more details on the tornadoes.
As a result of the damage in Marshall County and around the state, Indiana Governor Mike Braun declared a disaster and activated the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) for eligible residents impacted by the storms. More info on the SDRF and the link to apply can be found above.
