Should a disaster rise to a level where Marshall County's resources have been exhausted or there is a significant threat to the safety of its citizens, the Marshall County EMA Director can prepare a disaster declaration. Issuing local disaster declarations helps the county make the case for state and federal assistance. Any declaration requires formal approval from the Marshall County Commissioners (at least 2 members voting in favor).
Travel Bans and Burn Bans are also both considered disaster declarations and require approval from the Commissioners before they can be issued.
Marshall County's most recent disaster declaration was for the 2025 spring tornadoes. More information about that event can be found HERE.
