LOCAL DISASTER DECLARED FOR MARSHALL COUNTY

The Marshall County Commissioners have declared a local disaster due to storm and flooding damage from 8/9 through 8/13. A copy of the declaration can be found HERE and a press release can be found HERE.

DISASTER ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE

If your primary residence has been impacted by the Aug. 11, 2026, disaster, you may qualify for an individual assistance grant through the State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF).

However, please be aware, assistance under this program is limited to uninsured damages of eligible items occurring at your primary residence, if located in a jurisdiction that has issued a local disaster declaration (Marshall County has) and for which state assistance is necessary.

Eligible items include certain home repairs, essential furnishings, essential appliances, essential tools, debris removal, medical devices, and essential transportation.

Attention SNAP recipients!

Households that receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits who lost food due to storm damage or power outages may be eligible for replacement benefits.

Affected individuals will need to submit an affidavit for replacement benefits. The affidavit must be submitted by August 31 and the loss (due to power outage, flood, etc.) must be verified. The documents may be uploaded to the FSSA Benefits Portal (fssabenefits.in.gov/bp/#), faxed to 888-436-9199 or dropped off at any Division of Family Resources' office.

FEMA Assistance Update:

On August 25, President Trump approved Indiana’s request for a federal disaster declaration and additional FEMA assistance for the August 11 severe weather incident. This is great news for Hoosiers who are facing a difficult road to recovery! Marshall County was NOT named as a county that would be receiving aid. However, counties can be added later and Marshall County EMA will continue to submit documentation of damages for review.
