Comprehensive Operations Analysis

CityBus initiated a Comprehensive Operations Analysis (COA) in the Spring of 2024 as the foundation of our Keep CityBus Moving 2030 initiative. The COA is focused on identifying transit needs in Greater Lafayette and developing service alternatives that provide the best possible service to the most people. The COA will evaluate realistic options for providing the most convenient access to work, school, and other destinations throughout the service area.

The COA is the first study of its kind in decades. While the transit system has continuously improved over the years to address changes in transit demand, the COA is different because it will take a comprehensive look at how the system operates compared to current and projected future demand.

Through engagement with customers and community partners, research, and evaluation of existing services compared with demand, the COA will recommend route network alternatives, appropriate vehicle fleet mix, and bus stop adjustments designed to meet the travel needs of CityBus riders today and over a three- to five-year horizon. The COA plan completion is scheduled for Spring 2025.

The core element of our Keep CityBus Moving 2030 initiative is public engagement and community outreach. Please check back here for updates and opportunities to participate.
