Mobile bus passes with EZfare
CityBus mobile passes are available through EZfare, a multi-agency fare payment app used across Indiana and beyond. Riders can buy passes anytime and pay directly from their phone.
EZfare works alongside CityBus smart cards and is accepted on all CityBus buses, which are equipped with onboard fare validators.
How it works
- Download the EZfare app (free) from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
- Open the app and select CityBus as your transit system.
- Add funds or purchase fare products.
- When you board, scan your phone on the onboard fare validator or show your active pass to the operator, depending on fare type.
Fare capping. Pay the best price automatically.
EZfare uses fare capping, which means you never pay more than the cost of a daily or monthly pass.
Each time you ride and scan your phone or smart card, the system tracks what you have paid. Once you reach the cost of a day pass or monthly pass, additional rides during that period are free. There is no need to decide ahead of time which pass to buy.
Fare capping gives riders flexibility and peace of mind while ensuring they always get the lowest possible fare.
