Vaccination Information

Vaccinations at the Henry County Health Department

We provide vaccines through the Indiana State Department of Health's Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Adult 317 programs for eligible clients.

Vaccines for Children (VFC Program)

Children under 19 years old may be eligible for the VFC program if they meet one or more of the following:

  • Eligible for Medicaid
  • Uninsured
  • Underinsured (health insurance doesn’t cover vaccines or only covers a limited vaccine benefit)
  • American Indian or Alaska Native

Note: A child is not eligible for VFC vaccines if their insurance covers vaccinations, even if a deductible hasn’t been met or a claim would be denied.

Sensory-Friendly Vaccine Appointments
At the Henry County Health Department, we’re making vaccines a calmer experience for kids. Parents can now select sensory-friendly supports during appointments, including playful fidget toys to keep hands busy, weighted lap pads that provide gentle comfort, headphones to soften overwhelming sounds, calming videos for distraction, and the Buzzy Bee shot blocker to ease the sting. These options help reduce stress, turning a challenging moment into one that feels safe and supported.

Ask about sensory-friendly supports when you schedule or check in, and we’ll be ready to make your child’s visit as smooth and comfortable as possible!

Vaccines for Adults (Adult 317 Program)

Adults without health insurance, or whose insurance does not cover vaccines, may be eligible for certain publicly funded vaccines through the Adult 317 program. These are offered through local health departments and other participating providers.

Vaccines available through this program include:

  • Flu (Influenza)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella (Chickenpox)
  • Meningococcal (including Meningococcal B)
  • Hepatitis A & B
  • HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
  • Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)

Eligibility is based on risk criteria and vaccine availability.
