Public & Semi-Public Pools
The Henry County Health Department’s Environmental Health Division regulates and inspects public and semi-public pools and spas to ensure safe and healthy swimming environments. This includes pools at hotels, apartments, clubs, schools, parks, and other public facilities.
Our responsibilities include:
- Issuing annual permits for operation
- Conducting inspections to check for water quality, proper disinfection, and safe operation
- Monitoring compliance with Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) pool regulations
- Investigating complaints related to pool safety and sanitation
Pool Operator Responsibilities
- Maintain proper disinfectant and pH levels at all times
- Keep filtration systems clean and functional
- Ensure safety equipment is available and in good working condition
- Keep daily water quality records on site for review during inspections
Seasonal & Routine Inspections
Public and semi-public pools are inspected periodically throughout the year to ensure continued compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
