INDOT is preparing a Categorical Exclusion (CE) for the I-65 ATL project, which includes the construction of additional travel lanes along I-65 from State Road 32 to State Road 47 and the reconfiguration of the I-65 and US 52/Lafayette Avenue interchange near Lebanon.
Traffic Noise Recommendations
The Traffic Noise Report is an important section of the CE. The traffic noise analysis for the I-65 ATL project recommends a noise barrier be constructed on the east side of northbound I-65 south of the Lafayette Avenue exit ramp. Before a final decision about noise barriers is made, residents and/or property owners who have been determined to benefit from the construction of a noise barrier are given the opportunity to provide their input. INDOT then makes the decision whether to construct the noise barrier based on feasibility, reasonableness, and percentage of supportive responses from the benefitted residents and/or property owners.
