What are All-Staff Meetings?

IDOH All-Staff Meetings are a monthly opportunity to come together virtually (via Teams) as an agency to learn about upcoming and ongoing initiatives, celebrate successes, hear from our colleagues, and ask questions of leadership. Your participation is valuable! All staff members are expected to attend unless you have a previously scheduled meeting set by external partners.

How do I participate?

Tune in to the next All-Staff Meeting at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 15.

Have ideas for future topics or want to share some feedback? Please email Erin McCreadie.

Conversations with the Commissioner

For the March convo, I talked with Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity Director Naima Gardner as we wind down National Nutrition Month. The Indiana Department of Health is working with a number of partners to create the first ever obesity and diet-related chronic disease plan. Naima said a goal of the plan is to transform how we think about obesity and nutrition, making sure schools have access to healthy food, with an eye on nutritiion education and food as prevention and treatment in clincial medicine.

Food is Medicine is the second most popular healthcare topic in the country, recogizing food and nutrition is part of overall health.Indiana is leading the way in this area having a Food is Medicine director and more.

Naima also offered recommendaitons about ways to make better food choices starting with small changes and using 5-2-1-0 as a guide to stay on track.
