Road Infrastructure Projects

Construction Projects- March 27, 2026

1. Paving projects in 2026 – (Please note, it might not be the entire segment of road)

   We will create this list after the winter months and will determine what will be a priority.  We have a preliminary list at this time, but nothing is confirmed at this point.

   Community Crossings Grant Projects - Monroe County applied for the 2025 fall call for the CCMG grant.  On Monday, December 1^st, it was announced that Monroe County is a recipient of the grant.  The following roads/subdivisions will be a part of the paving season in 2026: Bennett Lane, Crum Road, Graves Road, Mt. Tabor Road, Old SR 37 North, Popcorn Road, Prather Road, Rush Ridge Road, Rush Ridge Fork, Snow Road, Strain Ridge Road, Thacker Road, That Road, Wampler Road, Woodyard Road, The Overlook Subdivision, Roy Bailey Addition and Orchard Estates.  The projects will be put out for bid in the next 30-60 days for the 2026 season.

2. Stipp Road- The project is 99% complete. The crew will be back to finish up in the spring.
3. Baby Creek Stormwater Project - This project is listed in the Long-Range Stormwater Plan, Item #3.
4. Rockport Road, Bridge #308 – The bridge project has been awarded to CLR.  The project will begin in 2026 for completion at the end of the year.
5. Baby Creek Road, Bridge #629 - Awarded funding for construction in 2027.  Project is currently under the design phase and right-of-way acquisition has been completed. Letting date is October 7, 2026.
6. Dillman Road, Bridge #83 - Monroe County was awarded $2.3 million for the bridge replacement.  Construction is in FY2028. The existing steel truss bridge will be used on a future trail. Letting date is December 8, 2027.
7. That Road, Bridge #79 - Design is complete and right-of-way acquisition has been completed.  The project received federal funding for construction in FY2029.
8. Rhorer Road, Bridge #75 - Bids were opened in May 2025.  The lowest bidder (six bids received) was CLR.  The Board of Commissioners awarded the project to CLR on June 12, 2025.  Construction is scheduled to begin around 5/27/26.
9. Mt. Tabor Road, Bridge #13- The project is under design and right-of-way acquisition has begun.
10. Pedestrian Improvement Project - The project is underway and all the locations have the flashing beacons installed.
11. Old SR 37 South and Dillman Road Intersection Improvement - Funds have been allocated through the MPO to begin design in 2026 with a 2028 construction season.  The project is currently planned to install a round-about at this intersection to improve sight distance or overall safety improvement.
12. Fullerton Pike, Phase III- The project was awarded to Milestone Contractors.   Construction began on April 9, 2024 and the road is to open on September 26, 2025 at 9:00 am.  There will be minimal work on the project after 9/26/25.
13. Business 37 North, Bridge #913 Replacement- Monroe County was awarded the project in February 2025.  Construction is currently scheduled for FY 2029 or 2030.  Monroe County has chosen USI Consultants for the design of the project.  The firm was chosen following all federal aid guidelines with INDOT.
14. Fairfax Road, safety improvements- The project is utilizing HSIP funds through INDOT’s safety program.  We will have high-friction surface treatment installed on certain areas that have experienced a high-run off the road crashes.  The letting date is February 10, 2027.
15. Eagleson Bridge #922 – The bridge project has been awarded to Beaty Construction.  Construction will begin in the summer of 2026 and last until the summer of 2027.
