Road Infrastructure Projects

Construction Projects- September 24, 2025

1. Paving projects in 2025 – (Please note, it might not be the entire segment of road)

   Anderson Road, Brummetts Creek Road, Burma Road, Cowden Road, Hartstrait Road, Lampkins Ridge Road, Maple Grove West, Old SR 37 North, Popcorn Road, Springville Road, Shilo Road, Strain Ridge Road, Vernal Pike, Pine Grove Road, Deer Lick Road, Holly Lane, Darrell Drive, Darrell Court, Lori Ann Lane, Williams Way, Inverness Woods Road, Inverness Crest, Cranbrook Road, Spring Branch Road, Park Square Drive, Union Valley Road, Stipp Road, John Young Road, Lower Birdie Galyan Road, Coyle Road, Merritt Drive, Miller Road, Eller Lane, Eller Road, Kings Road, Rockeast Road, Elwren Road, Flatwoods Road, Merritt Drive, Mt. Tabor Road hill, Tom Phillips Road and Fox Lane.  Paving is wrapping up over the next month.

2. Community Crossings Grant Projects - Monroe County was awarded the 1.5 million for paving projects through INDOT in 2025.  The department is preparing the list of roads that will be submitted in the October 2025 call for projects.
3. Stipp Road- Stipp Road was awarded to E&B Paving .  The utilities have been relocated.  The project is under construction at this time with a proposed completion at the end of 2025.  E&B Contractors is the awarded contractor for the project.
4. Vernal Pike Trail - Staff has been working with Redevelopment Commission for the funding of this project.
5. Baby Creek Stormwater Project -  This project is listed in the Long Range Stormwater Plan, Item #3.  It is the goal to replace one culvert in 2025.
6. Vernal Pike Connector Road – The project has been completed and the road is open.  We will be completing the final walk through to begin the close out for the project.
7. Rockport Road, Bridge #308 - This bridge replacement project is under design. Right-of-way acquisition has began. Letting date is February 11, 2026.
8. Baby Creek Road, Bridge #629 - Awarded funding for construction in 2027.  Project is currently under the design phase and right-of-way acquisition has started.  Letting date is October 7, 2026.
9. Dillman Road, Bridge #83 - Monroe County was awarded $2.3 million for the bridge replacement.  Construction is in FY2028. The existing steel truss bridge will be used on a future trail. Letting date is December 8, 2027.
10. That Road, Bridge #79 -  Design is complete and right-of-way acquisition has started.  The project has received federal funding for construction in FY2029.
11. Rhorer Road, Bridge #75 -  Bids were opened in May 2025.  The lowest bidder (six bids received) was CLR.  The Board of Commissioners awarded the project to CLR on June 12, 2025.  Construction will occur in the spring of 2026.
12. Mt. Tabor Road, Bridge #13- The project is under design with right-of-way acquisition to begin fall of 2025.
13. Pedestrian Improvement Project - The project is underway and all the locations have the flashing beacons installed.  Expected completion is in November 2025.
14. Old SR 37 South and Dillman Road Intersection Improvement - Funds have been allocated through the MPO to begin design in 2026 with a 2028 construction season.  The project is currently planned to install a round-about at this intersection to improve sight distance or overall safety improvement.
15. Fullerton Pike, Phase III- The project was awarded to Milestone Contractors.   Construction began on April 9, 2024 and the road is to open on September 26, 2025 at 9:00 am.  There will be minimal work on the project after 9/26/25.  There could be times when there will be some flagging operations to complete the project in it’s entirety.
16. Business 37 North, Bridge #913 Replacement- Monroe County was awarded the project in February 2025.  Construction is currently scheduled for FY 2029 or 2030.  Monroe County has chosen USI Consultants for the design of the project.  The firm was chosen following all federal aid guidelines with INDOT.
17. Fairfax Road, safety improvements- The project is utilizing HSIP funds through INDOT’s safety program.  We will have high-friction surface treatment installed on certain areas that have experienced a high-run off the road crashes.  The project is to be let in the summer of 2026.
18. Eagleson Bridge #922 – The bridge has been designed and right-of-way is completed.  The letting for this bridge replacement is January 14, 2026.
