Amy Swain, Monroe County Recorder
Our office will be closed on Weds.-Fri., Dec. 24-26, and Weds.-Fri., Dec. 31-Jan. 2.
The Recorder's Office is open Monday-Friday 8AM-4PM. Closed major holidays and election days.
NOTE: To allow staff time to balance accounts at the end of the day, all documents submitted for recording must be received prior to 3:30 p.m. Documents received after 3:30 p.m. will be recorded on the next business day.
In 1816, the Office of County Recorder was the first local office created by the State of Indiana constitution. It is the primary duty of County Recorders to record instruments submitted for recording and maintain those records in perpetuity.
A County Recorder processes and stores a range of documents, most related to property records, that are submitted for recording. A copy of your deed may be obtained for $1 per page/image in our office. Most deeds are 1-3 pages long. Click Documents Processed or Available below for details.
