Indiana’s Overdose Fatality Review Teams get a boost with real-time dashboard

The Management Performance Hub partnered with the Indiana University School of Medicine, RTI International, the Indiana Department of Health, the Department of Homeland Security, the Indiana State Police, the Professional Licensing Agency, the Department of Correction, and the Governor’s Drug Prevention, Treatment, and Enforcement (DPTE) Office, to develop a real-time public-facing dashboard displaying touchpoints that occurred prior to a fatal overdose. This collaboration was funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under the HEAL Data2Action Program (HD2A) as a component of the Fatal Overdose Review Teams Research to Enhance Surveillance Systems (FORTRESS) project. The primary objective of the project is to equip County Overdose Fatality Review Teams with a dashboard on local overdose intervention points to surveil patterns in poisoning events and identify opportunities to intervene prior to a fatal drug overdose. Learn more about the full project

The dashboard below displays touchpoints, as captured through state administrative datasets, that an individual experienced prior to a fatal overdose. The touchpoints are displayed by prevalence, frequency, and recency as rates and percentages, beginning in 2015. Additional notes, including specific data sources, are outlined in the documentation and information sections of the dashboard.

*Note: The dashboard is currently displaying data up through the end of 2022. Beginning in 2024, the dashboard will show data through present time and will be updated weekly.
