Tattoo/Piercing Establishments

Tattooing, Piercing, and Microblading are regulated services and MUST BE performed only by licensed professionals in a licensed establishment.

Performing these services at home or in an unlicensed location is ILLEGAL and poses serious health risks. Violations may result in fines, penalties, and legal action.

For your safety (and the safety of others), always verify licensing and location before receiving or offering these services.

  • Contact us for an inspection before signing a contact to lease a space ~ to make sure it meets Grant County Ordinance/Requirements.
  • Steps for receiving a license are as follows:
    • Application completed (available by in-person only)
    • Required documents :
      • Current ID or driver's license
      • Bloodborne pathogen certificate
      • Hepatitis Records
      • Contract for disposal of biohazard materials (*if you are the establishment owner*)
    • Contact our office to set up an appointment to process/renew your license. Licenses expire December 31st of every year.

Tattoo/Body Piercing Establishment Information

  • The Health Department requires licensing of all tattoo and piercing artists.
  • Tattoo artists must complete a certified bloodborne pathogen course, receive the Hepatitis B vaccination series and pay the appropriate fee to obtain a license in Grant County.
  • Licenses must be prominently displayed in each studio.
  • The Health Department inspects tattoo/piercing establishments for compliance with all applicable state and local health regulations.
