Housing/Public Building Complaints

The Grant County Health Department's Environmental Division is responsible for addressing complaints regarding housing conditions that may pose a threat to public health. These complaints typically involve:

  • Lack of sanitation (no working toilet or water supply)
  • Mold growth or moisture issues
  • Pest infestations (rodents, insects)
  • Structural hazards (collapsed ceilings, holes in floors/walls)
  • Unsafe heating or electrical systems
  • Improper waste disposal (garbage accumulation, sewage leaks)

How to File a Complaint

Residents may file a housing complaint by contacting the Environmental Health Division directly. Complaints can typically be made via:

  • Email - environmental@grantcounty.in.gov
  • In-person at the Health Department office
  • Online (may fill out and email, mail, or bring to the office)
