Defensive Tactics Instructor Course
This instructor course combines the prior ILEA Level 1 and Level 2 instructor courses into a combined extended one-week defensive tactics ("DT") instructor course. This combined course streamlines the prior courses to focus on developing the student as a DT instructor, providing the necessary tools to the student to develop their own DT in-service program for their respective agencies.
The course provides material for the student to review prior to attending, so less time will be spent on teaching each DT category in isolation, with multiple repetitions of each technique, and instead focuses on creating a dynamic DT program that incorporates multiple techniques into scenario training exercises.
This course provides the fundamentals and training to create practical scenarios using the techniques and concepts taught. Each student will come with at least a basic knowledge of each DT category, and will leave with the tools to create an individualized program for their agency, as well as skills needed to instruct the categories.
The course will be limited to twenty students. The class will be divided into groups of no more than five students for practical teach back exercises and group work.
