How to receive credit for online computer based training:

Due to the increased availability and use of online training by Indiana Law Enforcement Officers we have developed these guidelines to help you know how to report online and computer based training and receive credit hours for you annual in-service training requirements.

There are three methods addressed in the guide lines below and an explanation of how to access and use the “ILEA Online Content Reference Resource”.

Other Online Training (Requiring LETB Instructor Sign-Off)

ILEA Free Online Training for Credit classes:

(Credit Classes presented online to individuals as self guided study)

  1. Register for the class at the ILEA website.
  2. Complete all the class requirements with a passing score.
  3. Print the certificate of completion.
  4. Report the training by submitting a copy of the certificate to your department Training Coordinator.
  5. The Training Coordinator will report the training through Acadis as part of your annual in-service training using the ILEA course and provider number as shown on the certificate.
    (IT IS THE DEPARTMENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO REPORT THE TRAINING, NOT THE PROVIDER)
  6. YOU CAN ONLY TAKE EACH CLASS ONE TIME, DO NOT REPEAT EACH YEAR.

ALL of the training from ILEA is free to any Indiana Law Enforcement Officer on FirstForward. Creating an account on FirstForward is also free for Individuals and Departments. Department Training coordinators can be granted Organizational Admin rights with the ability to assign and track training of members of your department.

Here is what is really cool; any completed training can easily be submitted to ACADIS with a few clicks.
Individuals can go to www.firstforward.com to sign up for your free membership on their own or they can be invited by the Organizational Admin.

Department Training Coordinators and Department Heads can setup your Department account and assign an Administrator by contacting FirstForward at 812-330-7101 or email: help@firstforward.com.

LETB Certified for Credit Training Providers:

(Training Providers that are private companies or agencies registered with the LETB and have a LETB Certified Training Provider number)

  1. Register for the classes at the provider’s website.
  2. Complete the class and all the requirements with a passing score.
  3. Print the certificate of completion or other documentation that indicates your successful completion of the class.
  4. Report the training by submitting a copy of the certificate and provide the LETB Certified Training Provider number to your department Training Coordinator.
  5. The Training Coordinator will report the training through Acadis as part of your annual in-service training using the LETB Certified Training Provider number for the organization that presented the online training. (Click here to access the list of LETB Certified Training Providers)
    (IT IS THE DEPARTMENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO REPORT THE TRAINING, NOT THE PROVIDER)

Other Online Training (Requiring LETB Instructor Sign-off):

(Online training from a site that is not registered as an LETB Certified Training Provider)

  1. Before beginning any online course from a NON-LETB provider we recommend that you verify that the course is of suitable subject matter and content for annual in-service training with your Department’s LETB Certified Instructor.

  2. Register for the class at the provider’s website.
  3. Complete all the class requirements with a passing score.
  4. Print the certificate of completion or other documentation that indicates your successful completion of the class.
  5. An LETB Certified Instructor must verify that the online class is valid training by reviewing the training objective and confirming that the training objectives were met by the student.
  6. The LETB Certified Instructor must print their full name, PSID number, and sign the proof of completion documentation or certificate.
  7. Report the training to your department Training Coordinator with a copy of the certificate.
  8. The Training Coordinator will report the training through Acadis as part of your annual in-service training using the LETB Certified Training Instructor’s PSID number.
