
Tom Kinman has been in law enforcement for over 35 years. He started his career working as a jail officer at the Hendricks County Jail. He then was hired as a town marshal for the town of North Salem. Tom graduated from the 90th Basic Session of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy in 1987. He was then hired as a deputy for the Hendricks County Sheriff’s Department, where he worked for 8 years, before going to work at the Plainfield Police Department.
Tom has been an instructor for over 25 years in various subjects, including: Defensive Tactics, Knife Defense, TASER, Active Shooter, Integrated Communications, Assessment, and Tactics (ICAT), and Explosives and Booby-Traps.
Tom retired from the Plainfield Police Department in 2017 so he and his wife could become missionaries in Haiti. During the pandemic they had to return to the States, at which time Tom got back into law enforcement as a police officer at a hospital.
